The Precision QUANTUM-2K scale uses Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) to determine BMI and other body composition metrics. Here's how it generally works:

Personal Data Input: Before using the body composition features, you need to input your personal data, such as your height, age, and gender, into the scale's memory. This information is crucial for the mathematical formulas used in BIA.
Electrical Current: When you step onto the scale barefoot, it sends a safe, very low-level electrical current through your body via metal contacts on the platform. You typically won't feel this current.
Resistance Measurement: The electrical current travels differently through various body tissues. Lean muscle tissue, which has a high-water content, allows the current to pass through easily (low resistance or impedance). Fat tissue, with its lower water content, offers more resistance (higher impedance).
Calculation: The scale measures the resistance (impedance) the current encounters. Using this resistance value, along with your pre-entered height, age, and gender, a built-in algorithm and mathematical formulas estimate your total body water, fat-free mass, and ultimately your body fat percentage.
BMI Calculation: With your weight (measured by the scale's sensors) and your height (entered by you), the scale then calculates your Body Mass Index (BMI) using the standard formula:
