Best HEAVY cantilever umbrella stand - A friend of mine had the large name brand umbrella stand and I was there when we put it together. It basically comes in two halves and has a small opening the size of a hose to dump water in. The holes are small enough you could never put sand in it or if you did, you've never get it out, and it had no wheels to move afterwards. Once you fill it, you don't move it. I live in a windy area so I needed a heavy base. That name brand base holds something around a max of 240lbs. I'm going to mate this with a 12' umbrella in a high wind area, I need something heavy. This costway umbrella stand is SO MUCH better than the name brand stand. It's a little bulkier size wise, but it's so much more functional. First, it comes with 5 containers with LARGE openings. I was able to fill them with sand, use my fist through the hole to pack the sand in, and continue to fill. Plus, because there are five containers, you can move them individually without killing yourself. These five containers sit in a steal frame that has a lever to engage the wheels. After you put the containers in in the frame, you put the cover on, attach the umbrella and you can engage the wheels for final positioning. 4 bolts and I had no issues attaching the name brand, let's call it "orange tree branch" umbrella. The wheels role relatively well over a composite deck even with the 1/4" gap between boards. The cover looks nice as it's solid with no holes for filling contents. It's HEAVY and it does a great job holding the umbrella safely, even in a windy environment. Oh, and the stand is almost 1/2 what it costs to buy the name brand stand. Buying this stand is a no brainer.
